For over 40 years, we have been creating sample books for every sector.
Experience, knowledge, and technology

Italsample is a design and packaging laboratory for sample systems. We consider every sample collection a design project in its own right, with specific technical, aesthetic, and economic characteristics. We follow a design method built on questions and answers, problems and solutions, drawings and prototypes. Direct production experience is our heritage—all the more valuable when re-evaluated in the light of new knowledge, design possibilities, and technologies.

From textile sample production to the origins of Italsample

The origins of Italsample date back to the 1970s and the small garment workshop founded by Maria Erminia Lanza. These were the years of “Made in Italy” prêt-à-porter, when Italian tailoring and manufacturing conquered the international market. The workshop grew rapidly to forty employees and secured an exclusive contract with a major children’s clothing brand.

In 1987, Rubelli, one of the oldest and most renowned Italian textile editors, was looking for a local company to produce its sample books. Maria’s workshop—which by then included her husband Gianni Proni—had the right size and know-how: thus began a collaboration that continues to this day.

In 1988, to meet Rubelli’s demands, Gianni Proni founded LCT, a laboratory dedicated solely to producing samples for the new client. At LCT, Gianni had the opportunity to fully express his skills: he proposed innovative ideas and effective solutions that revolutionized the world of sample books.

In the 1990s, Alessandro and Roberta Proni joined the company, bringing new energy to their parents’ business with their creative and managerial skills. In 1997, LCT became Italsample, and in 2000, it acquired FAS to expand production and adapt to market developments. From textiles to furniture, it was a short step: today, Italsample’s clients include many leading names in the design world.

Italsample, in three words

Design Planning
We consider every product a design project in its own right, with specific technical, aesthetic, and economic characteristics. We follow a design method built on questions and answers, problems and solutions, drawings and prototypes.

Experience
A packaging laboratory since 1988, Italsample has also been a paper engineering specialist for over twenty years. Direct production experience is our heritage—all the more valuable when re-evaluated in the light of new knowledge, design possibilities, and technologies.

Craftsmanship
Ours is a craft that requires significant manual effort, comparable to that of a tailoring atelier. We still perform most operations by hand, from fabric cutting to material alignment, and from box covering to the application of small hardware.
